As of February 1, June CL Tan revealed the cover her upcoming Fantasy debut inspired by Chinese mythology through Twitter titled Jade Fire Gold, which is set to be released in Fall 2021!
Peasant girl Ahn and exiled prince Altan form an unlikely alliance and over the course of their journey, must learn to trust each other despite being haunted by their pasts.
Ahn, is eager to save her grandmother from a cult of dangerous priests and is cursed with the power to steal souls.
Tan’s novel will be told in dual perspective and has even been pitched by the author as, “What if Katara were the Dark Avatar & Zuko was hunting her down?” According to a debut author chat reply, the novel features “100% poc cast / cool mysterious monsters called Soul Beasts / tasty food descriptions…” and more.
On January 12, Tan even shared character art of her main cast on Twitter, done by Jayessart.
The cover artist is Guweiz, lettering is done by Catherine Lee, and designers include Catherine Lee + Jenna Stempel-Lobell.
